Prata Cafe

Prata Cafe
26 Evans Road,(next to Evans Lodge, formerly Eusoff College, opposite SMU)
Tel: 6333 6979
Opening hours: 6.30am till midnight everyday. (Warning- parking at Evans Lodge carpark is $2 per entry on Saturdays from 7.30am to 7.30pm. Free on other days.)

Decided to check out this place for lunch out of curiosity since I have passed by the place several times noticing the banners advertising its recent opening.
Ordered an egg thosay ($1.50), a tissue prata ($1.50), soup kambing ($3.50), mutton curry ($3), fish curry ($3) and a Milo-O ($1.20).
To my suprise and delight, the soup kambing was FANTASTIC and is the answer to my long search for a good soup kambing ever since my favourite one in Toa Payoh Lorong 4 closed down. The soup is wonderfully flavoured and robust with just the right amount of spiciness and ample tender chunks of mutton. The only small grouse I had was the layer of oil on top which took some time to skim off. Definitely a Die-Die-Must-Try!
The mutton curry again was one of the best I've had for a while and the the fish curry was well above average too.
The thosay came with a yummy and fresh (unlike those you get at most thosay places) spicy grated coconut and a delicious sambar (vegetable curry).
Did not like the tissue prata despite its crispiness because it was coated with sugar but that's my idiosyncrasy as others may like it.
The Milo-O was really rich and great value at that price. Must try their Milo-Cino ($2) next time.
They serve a wide range of food including nasi lemak, set breakfast- egg, hot dog, 2 slices of buttered or kaya toast and tea/coffee ($3.50), mee goreng, mee soto, bryani, a wide range of thosays and pratas (durina, icecream etc), soup tulang etc.
This is a place where I shall be returning to sample their food again and again and again..
Hmmm...must do an impromptu session soon....
Happy Prata Cafe-ing!!! Image

Had dinner again at Prata Cafe. Really jam-packed with queue for take-aways.Tried their chicken bryani, mutton bryani, mee goreng, beehoon goreng, mutton curry and soup kambing washed down with a Milo Dinosaur.
All the food were yummy and the soup kambing is still the best around!
Happy Prata Cafe-ing!

Its less than 5 minutes walk from the main road (Bukit Timah Road)! Tot you should know that from the map link given by rojak above. :)

Thanks, kgal!
Also, is there a type of prata where you can 'burst' the egg yolk open, such that it oozes out all over the prata?

Just had lunch there again today. Ordered a special mee goreng, one vadai and a plate of mutton curry washed down with iced teh-O, yum! Total bill came to $6.40.
Found out that they have a Milo Godzilla ($3.50) besides their Milo Dinosaur ($3) and shall try it soon.
