1) cze cha stall at Hougang Green

2) fish steamboat at Hougang Ave 1 (blk 203 I think).

I am not very sure, but I think the first stall is Liang Ji at Blk 56X Hougang Green,
the second one is Shantou City fishhead steamboat at Blk 203, Hougang

Hi seamen,

Although I am not so sure about the 1st name, but the second one is correct, it is near to in-laws place. Thanks for confirming. :D

Hi TTC
I am very sure of the name but not the blk no. I remember it was blk 56X ( can't remember the exact blk no.) Hougang Green & I went to check the street directory, those blocks at Hougang Green starts with 500+.
Actually after this cze char series, business at those recommended stalls have improved tremendously. One of them was Hao Xiang cze char. I was at this Hao Xiang stall at Blk 233 Bt Batok Ave 5 (the one they recommend was at AMK) I had to wait like 45 mins for the food. Was worth the wait, the standard of cooking was good, on par with restaurant standard. The waitress was complaining that their kitchen cud not cope with the crowd after the broadcast of the tv series. I hope it will not affect their standard of cooking.

Hougang green is kind of like a heartland shopping area and the cze cha stall in the coffeeshop is not difficult to find. I have tried the food before but not those recommended dishes, quite ordinary but will certainly go back to try the other dishes. Someone daring to serve fallopian tube must have some skill.

As for sudden surge in business, it is normal. Even if they want to cope, it is still difficult. To a certain extent it surely will affect the standard somehow, but this gives them a chance to work on how to maintain the standard but there is so much they can do...so I will stay away for a while to be fair to them if I were to be there whether to evaluate or just wanting a meal ( it is not as if there is no where else to eat or they will close down the next day after they were featured), what for torture them and torture myself.

I notice when Singaporeans go eat Tze Char, they will usually order a few of these dishes:

1) Hotplate Tofu or Claypot Tofu
2) Pork Ribs King or Sweet Sour Pork
3) Fuyong Omelette
4) Sambal Kangkong (or Potato Leaves) or Stir Fried Veges with Garlic
5) Har Cheong Gai (Prawn Paste Chicken)

I think as long as these dishes are cooked to a good standard, these Tze Char stals should be safe.

3) Fuyong Omelette - No, for same price I go for meat dish.
4) Sambal Kangkong (or Potato Leaves) or Stir Fried Veges with Garlic - Yes, not easy to do a good sambal kangkong at home with the small flame we have at home.
5) Har Cheong Gai (Prawn Paste Chicken)- Yes! Yes! Yes!!

And nowadays, Assam/Curry/Nonya fish head is very popular too....

If you are talking about what sort of food you prefer to eat, I agree with you, there are other preferred method of preparing the food.

But you are going off topic here..... :D

today is featured at Bedok.

One at Bedok North, another Bedok South.

I find the braised duck + sea cucumber very tasty from the TV show!

Woa, Boba, you can taste virtually "off the air"? :D :D :D
Do post the details of the Bedok stalls once you have them, TIA.

Went to the Hougang Green stall on Sun. Wah..loads of customers. Was told by the servers and the cleaner that business has increased by multiple folds since the stall went on air.

The nyonya fish is indeed nice and can be found on almost every table. The fish was very fresh and gravy, very tasty. Actually, the gravy is pretty much assam sauce to me.

Dear rict 11, what is the address of the Hougang Green zi char stall that you went to?

Does anyone know the food recommendation for both the stalls in the Hougang episode?

Thanks!
