The
Makansutra Food Safari Tour is about the Singapore Food Culture
Experience. It seeks to reveal and share with visitors and
locals alike the great colour and taste of our food culture
that exist organically on our island. Food, to Singaporeans,
is a passion which explains why we are mad about food.
The food safari takes the participants on
a whirlwind whiz around Singapore to taste, sample and eat
some of the best eateries and dishes around here. All the
eateries are rated by Makansutra via its popular neutral public
polling method. There will be about 3 to 4 stops. Besides
the popular local hawker fare, like chicken rice, laksa, bak
kut teh or rojak, they can also have a dining experience that
incorporates the top and award winning local restaurants serving
both Asian and modern international cuisine. A Food Host will
be at hand to regale the colourful story of our food and its
culture to the visitors.
There are two types of Makansutra Food Tours:
Makansutra Organised Food Safari Tour
Makansutra Food Safari tours are conducted
by a food host and guide and will last approximately 4 hours
with a minimum of 3 stops. Prices of these tours start from
$160. It will include a Food Host & Guide, transportation
to all designated stops, specially Makansutra designed menu
and the cost of food.
- NSEW Tour - this will bring you on a
cross country tour, the heaviest tour with an extensive
range of street food from the North to the West and South
and East of the island.
- Multi-Cultural Tour - this tour will
bring you across to the multi-racial food of Singapore to
experience the pungent aromas in Little India, the colourful
and interesting finds in Geylang Serai, Katong and the loud
and time honoured Chinatown.
- Off the Beaten Track Tour - quirky finds
in parts of Singapore where few have ventured to. Sip kopi
in a quaint little coffeshop which had been left untouched
by time, or get your hands dirty with seafood near the western
industrial tip of Singapore. Discover the undiscovered!
- Uniquely Singapore - what is unique to
us? This is a tour that takes you through the best of the
well-loved Singaporean flavours. From the peppery Bak Kut
Teh,, full bodied Hainanese Chicken Rice, spicy Fish Head
Curry, fragrant Kaya Toast to colourful Nonya Kuehs…
this tour lines it all up for you. This is the taste of
Singapore.
- Midnight Tour - the ultimate insomniacs
makan tour. You begin eating by midnight and we take you
through the favourite nocturnal makan hangouts. No jams,
no crowds no pollution, just hungry owls on the prowl for
good food and interesting stories.
