The Makansutra Singapore Street Food Masters are back. This award and recognition program in now into its third year. It began in 2005 as The Hawker Legends and morphed into the Street Food Masters in 2006. The campaign serves to recognize the top street food practitioners in our city. Singapore’s street food culture is an institution that feeds the nation and these master cooks are the soldiers that proudly defend Singapore’s culinary heritage.

Each year, Makansutra, with an impartial and discerning panel of culinary observers conscious of echoes from the internet, will select a group of street food vendors worthy of the Street Food Masters accolade.

Such street food masters are what Makansutra champion as part of our quest in celebrating Asian food cultures and lifestyle. Together with Asian drink icon YEO’S, we, again, bring you this year’s Singapore Street Food Masters and the joy of pairing it with YEO’S drinks. This year’s brochure, like previously, will incorporate a detailed information about each Street Food Master, their heritage and their food. It will also encompass a Do-It-Yourself food tour to these Makansutra Street Food Masters. It will list details about travel and recommended times to visit and savour. Many are located in convenient town and around popular traveler’s locations while some, to tempt the more adventurous, are sited in the residential heartlands at paths less traveled.
