Chinese Satay
The
Lowdown:
If you don't remember who President Sheares was, then you wouldn't know the pleasure of eating this near extinct style of satay. The barbecued meat sticks come with a sweet tangy pineapple sauce and the regular peanut sauce. By late afternoon, the lady at the stall is already manually making the satay, stick by stick, piece by piece. Sometimes she'll insert a tiny nugget of fat to the stick and satay connoisseurs will know that, although sinful, this is what makes it smooth and succulent.
Try this, just dunk the satay, especially the succulent pork version, FULLY into the whole bowl of pineapple sauce and savour the twist. (When demand is high, you gotta persuade the auntie to give you a whole bowl of pineapple dip, or buy it from her.) It's simply fusion music to the palate.
Bad news is that there are not many such stalls around and the good news is that there is no queue at this highly rated stall.
